‘Untitled’ by @allophile_ – “This scene was taken in Petrified Forest National Park in Northern Arizona. Last summer, we were able to go on our first road-trip since the beginning of the pandemic. (This was after vaccines and before Delta & Omicron.) It felt so liberating to be on the open road, hours away from home, coasting through different climates and landscapes. We got out of the car for a short hike among these chunks of jewel-like agate, strewn all over the ground around the striped hills — amazing to think that these fossilized log chunks were once a living forest from the Triassic period — that’s BEFORE the dinosaurs dominated.
I took this with an iPhone 12 Pro, with the native camera app, using the ultra wide lens, then used Snapseed for a bit of exposure balancing. The ultra wide option on the newer iPhones is truly a game-changer for mobile landscape photography.”
Untitled
‘Untitled’ by @arnakatt5 – “This beautiful surreal landscape is called Lake Ballard – It is a ephemeral salt lake in the golden outback of Western Australia. It is a place that is sacred to the Aboriginal people.
The lake is dotted with several hillocks. One of these hillocks is extremely imposing. I wanted to create a sense of awe, a feeling of harsh terrain and loneliness using just this single hill. At the same time I also wanted to create a ancient spiritual beauty.
In my edit I enhanced the texture of the fauna in the foreground to create the harshness of the landscape..but as the viewer enters the image the image feel is softened by the vast painterly sky. I edited the photo in Snapseed
”
Untitled
‘Untitled’ by @bajonarcea – “The photo is taken with an iPhone X in the summer before the pandemic on a lonely beach in Asturias (a natural paradise where the sea and the mountains are very close and their environment is all green) in Northern Spain. Using the long-exposure app, Spectre, and a bluetooth trigger I got this moment of total freedom in the face of the immensity of the Cantabrian Sea; sometimes in absolute calm and sometimes it shows its unstoppable fury. The brightness and contrast were corrected with Snapseed. I love the sea and it abstracts me from everyday life. Asturias is like that”
Out of the mist
‘Out of the mist’ by @edwinableakley – “This photo was taken early one winter morning. I’d headed down towards a little creek near my place (near Heathcote, Victoria, Australia), hoping to see the sunrise. While the sunrise was fairly subdued, I loved the mist shrouding the trees, making them look a little ethereal.
I edited in snapseed, giving the photo a little more brightness and warmth as it was a bit dull in its original form. ”
kochelsee
‘kochelsee’ by @gitti.tagwerk – “I love the early hours in the morning, fog and soft light. On this day in October everything was perfect. The lake lay like a mirror in front of me. The icy jetty, the mountains and the floating pedal boats it was a quiet but magical moment.
Although most of my photos are in black and white, I chose soft colors here.
I shot this with the Hipstamatic app and an iPhone 11 Pro Max, but I hardly edited anything here. I just chose a film that bathes the whole scene in this beautiful, delicate blue.”
Not all is bad in the badlands
‘Not all is bad in the badlands’ by @honor_life – “This was taken back in 2015 in Badlands National Park South Dakota. To me the name Badlands doesn’t fit the raw beauty of the landscape. Love the texture, colors and various shapes of this land. Used Lightroom, Snapseed.”
Untitled
‘Untitled’ by @jos_nijkamp – “I took this photo in the dunes of the beach at Kijkduin, part of Dutch city, The Hague. They were busy making the dunes higher. They had already put lots of sand on the pre-existing dunes. The shape of this extra sand looked a lot like small dunes further away. So I took the picture to make it look like dunes in the distance as good as possible
At home I mainly made the photo which was shot on broad daylight darker and changed the color to change the atmosphere. To do so I used Snapseed and DistressedFx. I also used DistressedFx to add the birds: I see a lot of birds on the beach so that seemed appropriate for this picture.”
Untitled
‘Untitled’ by @jschack1818 – “I took this photo during sunset last spring. This bulkhead has been part of my life from a very young age. I have many good memories of fishing and crabbing with my grandfather during the summers as a child. Now, as an adult, the bulkhead has weathered over time, and as I watch it age, those memories flood back. Today, I get to create new memories with my girlfriend as we photograph this special place, and share in the new memories, but also share the old.
I took this photo with my Galaxy S10+ during golden hour of sunset. I did some light editing with Snapseed to straighten my horizon, and add some contrast to what my eyes were seeing. ”
The tree
‘The tree’ by @jsmayores – “This photo was taken last month from a vacant parking lot in Aweer market, Dubai. It was a gloomy day with an interesting cloud formation worthy of a composition with a solitary Neem tree as the subject.
I clicked several shots from my Oppo Reno 6 5g and edited the selected using the built in editor to highlight the contrast of black and white hues. Final image was frame worthy. Silhouettes will often produce a unique mobiography composition.”
Open Road
‘Open Road’ by @quintessent_holy_city – “This landscape capture was shared in November 2021 as part of my Big Sky Series featuring 30 photographs. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary on our first trip to Yellowstone National Park. The series was a way to showcase the beauty and diversity of our oldest National park (2022 marks the 150th anniversary!) while also allowing me to revel in a milestone of my own well beyond the too-few days we spent in Montana/Wyoming.
“Open Road” was taken in the renowned Lamar Valley shortly after sunrise on a day that began with a light dusting of snow. This low-angle road shot was the perfect scaled opportunity to glimpse the vastness of this land as well as the beauty in the details. Taken on iPhone 12 Pro and edited in Lightroom Mobile. ”
Seashore Meditations
‘Seashore Meditations’ by @robynmencher – ” I have always been influenced by water and the theme runs through many of my photographs. While continuing to self-isolate since 2020 due to the pandemic, a quiet, early morning escape has been to St. Pete Beach, Florida, near my home. On this day, as I stepped onto the sand, I was swept away by the absolute serenity of the moment. There was not a soul in sight, only the gentle sound of waves on the shore and the empty bench beckoning me. I took only one picture with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, utilizing the Hipstamatic app, as I thought that would best highlight the cloudscape. Later, looking at the image, I titled it ‘Seashore Meditations’ and wrote a haiku to accompany it.
Footsteps in the sand
Beach beckons with open arms
Offering solace
I did a minimal amount of post processing. Snapseed was my go-to for straightening the horizon line as well as cropping to highlight the footprints, sea oats, bench, and rock jetty. I deepened the hues slightly with Instagram’s Perpetua filter. I am a poor historian regarding how I edit pictures as I go with my heart until I sense the right emotion emanating!”
Dance first
‘Dance first’ by @tilly2milly – “Finding interesting landscapes was always my passion. This photo was taken on Hampstead Heath in London, my local park. What I love about this particular landscape is simplicity of wide open space and the tree as a focal point. In a way tree is an island that could provide shelter, security, adventure and may other things.
I used my mobile phone (iPhone 11) as that saves me from having to carry camera on my daily walk.
As the light and colour of summer evening was so beautiful I didn’t do much editing. Slight help from the tools on Instagram and that was that.”
There is a tiny person
‘There is a tiny person’ by @alice1280 – “My morning walk and as usual I was in the water looking for tide lines. I decided to try wide angle for a change. I like the way it exaggerates the line of the wave and it also made the person smaller. I edited and converted to
black and white using Snapseed.”
