Following on from last years successful ’24 Mobile Photographers Til Christmas’ series and to celebrate the forthcoming festive season and another year in the timeline of Mobiography I have decided to repeat the series and showcase the work, thoughts and insights of 24 talented mobile photographers. Each featured photographer has inspired and supported me in one way or another during the course of the past 2 years and I will be asking them to offer an insight into their photography, to reflect on their year gone by or plans for the coming year ahead.
Each day until Christmas Eve we will be featuring one photographer in a sort of online advent calendar so to speak.
Today’s featured photographer is David Ingraham
My incredible encounter or story which has been part of my photographic journey this year is…
While traveling through Ireland this past March with my band, we made a brief stop in the quaint little town of Westport. As I was wandering the streets in search of a good photograph, I noticed this lone cloud hovering in the sky in a surreal sort of way. I stayed put and waited to see who would step into the scene. After taking one or two shots of different people, a car pulled up and out hopped this kid. He seemed to be on a mission of sorts – candy? A comic book? – whatever it was he was after, he was intent on getting it because he walked right up towards me – almost through me – as I grabbed a few quick shots of him passing by. The whole while he seemed completely oblivious to my presence, almost as if I were invisible; and this of course is every street photographer’s dream come true! Anyway, I thought the end result made for a compelling image with a strong compositional dynamic between kid and cloud.
