This week I am breaking away from the usual Flickr group showcase format as I’ve just returned from a fantastic few days at MoJoCon, the first international mobile journalism conference in Dublin, Ireland.
MoJoCon was organised by RTE, the Irish National Television and Radio Broadcaster. The event featured a wide range of experts from all over the world and covered topics ranging from the use of mobile in journalism and broadcasting to storytelling through film and of course, smartphone photography.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to speak at the event about my experiences of mobile photography and digital publishing. With me on the smartphone photography session was Ireland’s very own, Brendan Ó Sé, Daniel Berman of the Mobile Photography Awards, Hong Kong based photographer Michael Kistler, the lovely Nicki Fitz-Gerald of iPhoneographyCentral, Dan Rubin and none other than the fantastic Jack Hollingsworth.
Over the course of the next couple of weeks I will be reflecting on the event and showcasing images taken during the course of it, particularly the ‘MoJoCon On The Street‘ photo walk.
To kick things off I would like to showcase my favourite images taken by some of the smartphone photography session members.

They’re all great – and so different!
I wish I’d booked to go when I was thinking about it. The emphasis on joirnalism out me off. Silly silly me!
These are all great. I was especially drawn to Andy,Brendan, and Daniel’s photos though. I can’t wait to hear more about MoJoCon.
They are all unique, interesting, and well-captured. I particularly liked Daniel Berman’s image. For me, it captures the iconic daily life. Moving up, going here and there, individual destinations yet on the same route. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely seeing your faces and your images! Looking forward to hearing more about your experience of the conference!
It was a wonderful opportunity to get together and such a great experience. Thanks to all.
And for me, Andy’s shot steals the show.
Thanks for this Andy. It was so brilliant to meet you at last and catch up with Mobiography and all the good work being done here. Love the top shot of some of our crew outside the hotel in Dublin. From left to right, Andy Butler,(Mobiography) Daniel Berman (MPA), Nicki Fitz-Gerald (Me – iPhoneographyCentral), Brendan Ó SÉ (Fotopunctuation) and Michael Kistler (Michael Kistler photography). Missing from the photo but also on our panel was Jack Hollingsworth and Dan Rubin. ‘Til next time 🙂
