Vacation

Vacation‘ by @_plantmyheart_ – “I snapped this vacation shot in the middle of a sweltering hot beach day.

I’m always on the lookout for bright colors, interesting shapes, unusual combinations of lighting and perspective, and when I looked up from lazing on my towel, there it all was! I cropped a chunk off the umbrella and brightened the colors just a tad (using Google photos editing tool and then one of Instagram’s filters, probably Clarendon) to get more focus on the vibrant colors; but really this picture just popped for me from the get-go, capturing all the energy and joy of a summer getaway.

Shot on my Samsung Galaxy S10e. ”

Two bikes, some clouds and a bit of mist

Two bikes, some clouds and a bit of mist‘ by @alice1280 – “This is last December, summer in South Africa. Vehicles on the beach have been banned for many years. We have to walk or bike. The sun was high in the sky and it was a little bit misty. Very little editing. ”

In the Dolomites

In the Dolomites‘ by @allophile_ – “I’ve dreamed of visiting the Dolomites for years, and this summer that trip finally became a reality. The Northern Italian Alps are almost impossibly picturesque, and hiking among wildflowers and craggy peaks was truly the highlight of the summer. On the particular day I took this photo, the skies were constantly changing. We began the morning with clear weather, and then we had alternating sunbreaks and showers, and finally the winds picked up. Not long after I took this photo, lightning and hail made everyone take shelter, and the landscape turned white as the pea-sized ice balls accumulated. I took this with my iPhoneX. The clouds made for dramatic lighting, so there’s minimal editing here – I did use Snapseed to crop the photo and to bring out the textures in the darker part of the photo a bit, but the wildflowers were perfectly sunlit.”

L o o k i n g d o w n‘ by @alopezc72 – “My children were playing by snorkeling towards my feet while I was sitting on the pool side when I noticed that I could get very interesting “abstract” portraits of them. This was one of my favourites. For editing I only had to do some darkening of the sides of the photo to center the eye on my son.”

Some friendly faces at Summer’s End

Some friendly faces at Summer’s End‘ by @c_rae_diance – “These Sunflowers were standing bright and tall in Chilliwack located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. It was the perfect day to take my Mom and Mother in law out to celebrate the recent birth of my grandaughter and their great granddaughter. The bright blue sky was filled with perfect billowy clouds that always photograph so nicely. We walked along the incredibly bright yellow stalks together, celebrating summer and our precious new arrival. Captured with my Samsung Galaxy7 and edited/cropped with Snapseed. ”

Untitled‘ by @danielwencel – “The photo was taken with LG G4 and edited with VSCO. The man was struggling with the beach umbrella for quite a while, trying to hold it still in strong wind. I just found the pose he struck very amusing.”

Looking deep into nature

Looking deep into nature‘ by @lisalam628 – “This photo was taken recently in July 2019 when I visited Lake Louise in Banff with friends. I have been to Lake Louise many years ago but I was still struck by its natural beauty and serenity. Strolling along the shoreline looking for photo opportunities, I spotted my friend sitting there enjoying the moment. I took the shot (iPhone X) from behind capturing not only the iconic Lake Louise but also adding a story and human interest. I did my post processing in Snapseed (brightening and enhancing the color slightly).”

Fanny Bridge

Fanny Bridge‘ by @lizanderson48 – “My husband and I were walking along the road that follows the shore of Donner Lake in California when I saw these young people standing in these typical teenage poises along the railing of the bridge. We call it Fanny Bridge because people often bend over the railing to see the fish swimming in the shallow clear water underneath. I seem to remember doing the same kind of thing on a hot summer day as a teenager. Just hanging out.

It was taken with my iPhone 7 Plus and edited in Snapseed.”

Walking and chatting

Walking and chatting‘ by @pennijam – “The photo was taken at Sunshine Beach, Queensland, Australia just after sunrise. I have been walking along the beach taking sunrise photos and had stopped to take in the beautiful vista. I looked up and saw these two ladies walking along the beach in deep conversation. The photo was taken on my iPhoneX with basic edits in Snapseed and then a filter applied in A Colour Story. ”

Solarium

Solarium‘ by @pierluigidodi – “I took the photo while I was on a holiday in the Italian mountains. I was attracted by the the color of the chairs contrasting with the shape of the mountains. I took the photo with Huawei P10 and post-production with Snapseed. ”

Summertime and the livin’ is easy… (or so I hope)

Summertime and the livin’ is easy… (or so I hope)‘ by @rejanerubino – “I took this picture from the balcony of a friend’s apartment in Guarujá, a seaside city in the southeast region of Brazil. It was a sunday morning at the end of my summer holidays and I noticed this charming scene of people enjoying the sun on the beach. Their delicate silhouettes and the shadows they cast on the sand seemed to capture the very essence of summer.

The photo was taken with my iPhone 8 plus and slightly edited with Snapseed.”

Charlie, Stephen and Billy having a dip in the ocean

Charlie, Stephen and Billy having a dip in the ocean‘ by @sunflowerof21_365 – “This was taken on day 221 for my 2019 365 project. It features my husband and two sons on the beach in Santa Barbara, California. It was the penultimate day of a fabulous two week road trip, which started in Las Vegas. We’d had quite an adventure and Santa Barbara turned out to be the perfect place to finish it. Beautiful and relaxing. This was the first time the boys had, had the opportunity to put their swim shorts on and get into the ocean, which was, of course, very cold. Their varying levels of hesitation made for an interesting composition and gave me time to get this shot.

Shot and edited on an iPhoneX through Hipstamatic (combo Lowy/Irom 2000).”

Playa Grandé

Playa Grandé‘ by @tomtomvohs – “This photo was taken in Costa Rica at Playa Grandé. The beach was mostly deserted as I walked from Grandé to Playa Flamingo but off in the distance I saw a couple of folks enjoying the sun and I took this shot of them with my iPhone 6 Plus. Then I isolated the people with a mask, added some light leaks, saturated and blurred it to get this result. I’m a bit of a slave to bright colours and endeavour to incorporate them into most of my shots. All of this editing was completed in the grand old app; Photo Wizard. ”
