Stunning landscapes, abstract patterns, people and animals and snapshots of moments captured as the day passes by, where all common themes in the photographs submitted.

Untitled‘ by @iamlam628 – “This shot was taken with my iPhone X early this year. This is the Puzhehei Scenic region in Qiubei County in the southeast of Yunan Province in China, a place known for its unspoilt and beautiful karst landscapes. To get this shot, I had to climb up a few hundred narrow and winding steps. It was quite challenging particular when there were many local visitors trying to reach the top at the same time. Once up there, standing room was very tight but the view was spectjawacular and breathtaking. This photo captured the scenery under great weather at pre-dusk hour. Slight post processing with Snapseed (HDR Scape, Curves and Tune Image). ”

So mesmerizing!

So mesmerizing!‘ by @iphonephotography_wp – “There’s actually a cool story that goes along with this photo. My son and I went to St. Louis, Missouri last summer on vacation. I saw that this piece of art, “Electric Burst (Lines and Zigzags)“ by Claudia Comte, was going to be on display in a little contemporary art museum. We stopped in to check out this enormous piece of artwork, which is actually the length of an entire wall! It was amazing to see and I snapped a lot of photos of my son standing in front of it.

We did not plan his outfit ahead of time, and it just worked out so well that he had the bright colored shirt, crazy patterned shorts and striped socks on. I don’t think I could’ve planned it better if I had tried!

The only edit on this photo was a close crop and increasing the contrast. ”

Pigeons, Tg Balai

chanarik - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Pigeons, Tg Balai‘ by @chanarik – “Image was shot in Tg Balai with a Xiaomi Mi9 with the built-in tele lens. Tg Balai is an Indonesian island accessible by a 1.45hr ferry from Singapore.

I was with my students for a sunrise shoot and this image was shot soon after that. There were people feeding the pigeons on a road and once in a while a car or motorcycle will pass by scattering the pigeons. I noticed that the pigeons will circle around and some will rest on a lamp post nearby. I was fortunate the sky was blue.

I later used Snapseed to edit it by converting it to Black and White. As I wanted a high key effect, I chose a Blue filter to render the sky white and increase the exposure ever so slightly.”

Into the woods

Into the woods‘ by @sweet_coconutt – “This photo was shot in Lory loft, Jurong Birdpark Singapore, it is one of the favourite photo spots at Jurong Birdpark. Almost every week I will go there and feed the lorikeets. I like this bridge so much that I will take different angle of shots. The photo was edited using Lightroom for mobile, I adjusted the light, color and applied vignette at the end.”

Untitled‘ by @karenoffline – “This structure is part of the train station in Utrecht, a city in the centre of the Netherlands. I had notices it a couple of times, but I didn’t know how I wanted to capture it. So one evening I didn’t think about it but just took the picture. The patterns, the evening light and the beautiful Dutch sky worked together perfectly at that moment.

I shot this on iPhone X, using the native camera and edited in VSCO (J1) and I cropped it just a little bit around the edges. ”

Personal sound space

ipiotrxs - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Personal sound space‘ by @ipiotrxs – “I took this photo on the metro on my way to work. Music is like another world for me, so I always listen to it on public transport: it’s the perfect way to cut myself off from the world and sounds around me. I saw this man with huge headphones and even as a casual bystander, I saw his total immersion in his music, perfectly framed by his body. I found this photo very emotional and powerful at the same time, because I felt that I was looking at myself.

I always use phone cameras to shoot photos; this image was shot on an iPhone Xs with the portrait mode on. Edited as little as possible in VSCO and Photoshop Express. ”

Osakan ice cream vendor

judibooty - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Osakan ice cream vendor‘ by @judibooty – “I absolutely loved this Osakan ice cream vendor. He genuinely has love for what he does for a living and it seeps through his whole being. As simple as selling ice cream is, it gives him so much happiness that I just had to capture this moment and take his picture. He was confused when I asked and with the language barrier he had thought I wanted him to take a picture of us. I said no!! Picture of YOU!! He was so surprised as if this is the first time anyone has ever asked a picture of him and was so flattered. He was so endearing and sweet. I was so glad I asked. In the past I would never have out of shyness. I was told by a street photographer a few weeks back to just ask. What’s the worst that would happen? Nothing really. And so what if they said no. But he didn’t and gladly obliged. This interaction was a complete delight. Even though my family’s reaction was like, WTH?! I have decided, not just in photography but in my life that I’m no longer going to be deterred what I want in life to suit someone else’s comfortability and their view of me. I’m thankful for that advice and for this sweet, charming man. Oh and his ice cream was sooo delish!! But everything in Japan was! Lol!!”

Upstanding

jawdoc2 - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Upstanding‘ by @jawdoc2 – “I often walk along the Vancouver seawall where this large winter tree stands tall. Normally the busy city skyline behind, distracts from its stark beauty. On this day a heavy fog masked the buildings to create an uncluttered backdrop and make the tree more prominent. A man standing nearby added a sense of scale. Shot in colour on my iPhone 7 plus and cropped and edited using the iPhone software.”

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring

susanblanda - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring‘ by @susanblanda – “I love to watch the surfers as they dance among the waves of Southern California! And, I’m grateful for the wonderful inspiration they bring to my work. Surfers are free spirited adventurers who grace the waves with such enthusiasm and heart. And when Mother Ocean gets really quiet, they sit in patient reflection — dreaming of the next big set — with grateful anticipation and hope.

I shot this image on an iPhone 7 plus at #sanonofre, California, on the first day of Spring, 2019. I used Snapseed to tweak the cropping, contrast, color, and details in this shot.”

Sunday afternoons

andrew webb - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Sunday afternoons‘ by @andrew_webb – “I shot this one afternoon at Terrigal Rock pool New South Wales Australia.

A young couple had just finished their swim and had sat down on the rocks to eat some hot chips. The girl pictured was throwing some to the seagulls and they just went crazy. I was in the right place at the right moment.

Shot on iPhone 8 plus and edited in snapseed.”

Mona Lisa’ s eyes

yiorgoskouts - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Mona Lisa’ s eyes‘ by @yiorgoskouts – “This picture is inspired by George Orwell’s novel “1984”. In my mind the graffiti artwork on the background wall could be the “Big Brother’s” eyes, watching everything and everyone!

The picture edited in snapseed app with a custom filter made by myself.

mery pictures - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Untitled‘ by @mery_pictures – “I love the roar of fighter jets, such an adrenaline rush! I went to see the Blue Angels at the Miami Beach Air and Sea Show on Memorial Weekend. It was hard to take pictures as it was too bright, the jets flew by fast and I didn’t want to miss a moment. So this image was really a surprise for its vivid composition: the people in the water staring at the Blue Angels flying by and the clouds behind them. I used my Samsung Galaxy S8 and added some contrast and structure to the image to reduce the brightness.”

Lines

nickspier1 - Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Stunning Smartphone Photos of the World Around You

Lines‘ by @nickspier1 – “I shot this picture at the Gemeente museum in The Hague, the Netherlands. I was inspired after visiting an exhibition of famous Dutch photographer, Erwin Olaf. The lines, the lighting, and the minimalistic serenity of the scenery made me grab my iPhone X for this shot as I didn’t have my camera with me. There’s always some beauty in the world around you. Cropped with Instasize and slightly adjusted the lighting with the Instagram in-app settings.”
