Barrio Viejo Yellow

‘Barrio Viejo Yellow’ by @allophile_ – “Just south of downtown Tucson is the Barrio Viejo – the adobe soul of the city, with buildings dating back to the 1800’s.

The play of light and shadow on the textured, minimal street fronts is endlessly photogenic, evocative of old cityscapes in far-flung places. The austere exteriors often hide lush courtyards. The urban desert sense of place is strong, and I’m glad to call this city home.

I took this with an iPhone X, then used Snapseed for a bit of exposure correction, and then just a bit of ‘structure’ from the ‘details’ tool to highlight the texture of the façade in the mid-day light – often harsh, but still nice in spring.”

Sunflowers

‘Sunflowers’ by @arnakatt5 – “This photo was taken with my iphone 7. The image was taken in my garden. My husband is a keen gardener and on this occasion had grown a number of Black Russian Sunflowers. The impressive giants of the garden were stunning reaching 12 feet tall and a head 15 inches wide. I took a number of photos of these beauties. I started to study them intensely with my mobile camera lens taking images from all kinds of angles. It actually became quite a obsession and produced an extensive portfolio on the sunflowers.

In this particular image I wanted to create a painterly flowing feeling. All edits were achieved in Snapseed and Camera +2 app using the macro.”

‘Untitled’ by @jawdoc2 – “It was a bright sunny day and as the yellow wall was well lit, the adjacent was in full shadow. I really liked the contrast of the dark wall adjacent to the well lit yellow wall. The basic simple geometry really worked here. Shortly after setting up my composition, this guy walks by carrying a black bag to mimic the black wall… perfect!!

Shot on my iPhone 7 Plus and I increased the contrast using the iPhone software.”

Anemone

‘Anemone’ by @karenroberts4865 – “My image was taken with a Struman macro lens attached to a iPhone Pro Max using the Struman pro max cover screw on adapter not the clip. I focused on the stamens as that was my subject.

Walking through a popular tourist village in the New South Wales blue mountains looking for subjects to experiment with my new Struman macro lens. I spotted a group of flowers that were perfect and as they were a little sheltered by bushes behind them I managed to get some images that were reasonably still, I used my body to give a little shadow over the flower to stop the suns glare blowing it out. I did not do any editing as I was happy with the image. My biggest problem was as I was shooting in high sunlight I couldn’t see my results properly so I took quite a few just in case. ”

‘Untitled’ by @lorindatisdellimages – “After an evening of watching an incredible ballet Folklorico performance, I decided to visit the ladies room before heading home. When I walked in, this dancer was facing the wall, getting ready to change out of her costume. Luckily my iPhone was close at hand and I was able to grab a quick shot before she turned around. Using Snapseed, I brought out the various textures in the wall, her hair and dress to create this image. It’s one of my favorites! ”

Lemonhead

Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Vibrantly Yellow Inspired Smartphone Photos 6

‘Lemonhead’ by @nictstreetphoto – “I walk to work each day near Sydney’s Circular Quay Ferry Wharf, and I love seeing the colour and passion of all the street performers in that area. One afternoon I noticed this guy’s brightly coloured, lemon head-decoration, and really wanted to capture the pride and enjoyment he got from wearing it. Shot on my iPhone 8, edited on Snapseed. The lemons were already yellow enough, I just slightly increased the contrast to bring out his white face-paint, and made the blue sky slightly more vibrant.

I began street photography 4 years ago as a fun and creative way to express my emotions, make observations, and generally help my mental health. Now, street photography plays an important part in my life, and I hope to keep loving it and improving my skills.”

You are stronger than you think

‘You are stronger than you think’ by @rawsdebbie – “This shot was taken in front of an abstract painting hanging in a nearby mall. I loved the lighting and the silhouette of my husband standing in front of it.

It was taken with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and edited in Snapseed. ”

‘Untitled’ by @sunflowerof21_365 – “A single flower against a plain background is one of my favourite subjects to shoot. I absolutely love sunflowers, as does my friend Lisa, who I dedicated the original post to on her birthday.

This was shot on my iphone and edited in the Hipstamatic app for my 365 photo project. I applied the Jack London/Irom 2000 Hipsta combo, which is one of my favourites.”

Architektur

‘Architektur’ by @susanneborkott – “I‘m not a photographer, I just snap what I find beautiful and/or interesting. On this day I visited Hamburg and was searching for something to eat. I entered a mall, stood on an escalator and looked up. I saw that roof and had to snap it. It was quite difficult while being on the escalator, but I had luck. It was taken without a filter, I think I corrected the frame/image section.”

Yellow Warning

Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Vibrantly Yellow Inspired Smartphone Photos 10

‘Yellow Warning’ by @the.r.a.b.b.i.t – “It was like any other day in Pettah. The traffic was congested as always. In addition to this the rain made nothing better. As I resigned myself to a long and gloomy ride I spotted a flash of yellow. A man was heading my way with a sunny umbrella. It was such a welcoming contrast to the dreary weather. I had just one moment to capture a perfect shot. I felt like a sniper waiting for my next shot. I focused my camera on the car window drizzled with raindrops and waited for him to pass by to get my perfect shot.

The image was captured using my iPhone 8 plus and edited via the Lightroom mobile app.”

Yellow Contemplation

Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Vibrantly Yellow Inspired Smartphone Photos 11

‘Yellow Contemplation’ by @vickieiphoto52 – “My daughter and I were enjoying the patio and a beautiful afternoon. She was holding the yellow rose from my garden and we were deep in discussion regarding some decisions that we needed to make. When I walked behind her and looked over her shoulder I stopped and knew that was a shot that I had to take. The yellow rose tied in with the yellow shoes had all the ingredients for what I call a “Time Memory” shot! I Will remember every nuance of that afternoon with my daughter from this one photo.

It was edited and cropped slightly in Snapseed. ”

Q Club Art

Mobiography Photo Challenge: 15 Vibrantly Yellow Inspired Smartphone Photos 12

‘Q Club Art’ by @poetry_fish – “I captured this image at the beginning of lockdown in March 2020. The west end of Glasgow was deserted and anyone on the street seemed in a great hurry to get inside again. The atmosphere was eerie and strange. I took the shot from the passenger seat in the car.

I loved the colour of the painting, the contrast of yellow and grey and the way the paint highlighted and complemented details of the building. I was impressed by the chic quality of the woman and intrigued by the black leaf tendrils. I was drawn to the hopeful soothing which colour and art can create in times of darkness. I edited the image simply using my iPhone, it didn’t need much as the image was strong and vibrant – I just dialled it up a bit and sharpened, creating a stronger focus. ”
