What now?

Kamil Qkox
What now?‘ by Kamil Qkox – “This photo was taken on a school trip. It was in the morning. The title is “What now?” because just after I took this picture it was a question to myself after I realized that I was away from the rest of the group. Luckily I found them after a few minutes.

Editing was slightly. I made midtones more green and croped it in PS.”

The Angel of the North. Gateshead, UK

Elaine Taylor
The Angel of the North. Gateshead, UK‘ by Elaine Taylor – “This was shot with ProCamera and edited with TouchRetouch and Snapseed.

The Angel of the North is a steel sculpture created by Anthony Gormley. It stands on the outskirts of Gateshead in the North East of England; the town I grew up in. Every time I go back visit family there, The Angel welcomes me home. I try stop there for a moment whenever I get the chance. I feel nostalgic and calm when I’m there. I’m very fond of it.

I was actually waiting to take a photo of my two boys with The Angel. As I waited for them to reach it, my eye was drawn to the silhouette of the man you see looking up at it in this image. He wasn’t the only person near it, but he really stood out.

The editing process was relatively simple. I took the image into TouchRetouch to remove a few people to the left of the sculpture. Then I cropped the shot in Snapseed and made a few tuning adjustments. ”

Open Range

Wayne Greer
Open Range‘ by Wayne Greer – “This area is about an hour and a half from my home, so I try to go when the weather looks interesting. In this case, there were some dramatic clouds, some beautiful rolling hills, but not much else, except cows. So they became my subject. Usually they are behind fences. This spot has cattle grates at both ends of a long road, so they are free to roam about, “open range”. As I approached them they would run away, stop and turn around to see what I was up to. They did this over and over until they finally lined up for this shot. I used Snapseed to edit this photo.”

Sea of Grass

Mariko Klug
Sea of Grass‘ by Mariko Klug – “This picture was taken on Sylt, the northernmost island of Germany. Although it was a cloudy morning I went out very early to the lighthouse in the hope to see the sunrise. And it was worth it because all of a sudden the sunlight came through a gap in the clouds and created a very special atmosphere. I called this picture ‘Sea of Grass’ because the seagrass on the hills looked like waves of the ocean.

It was taken with Hipastamatic (Jimmy lens/Blanko Freedom 13 film with effect flash on). With PhotoToaster I adjusted contrast, cropped it slightly, and lightened some areas of the grass in the foreground with the lighting brushes tool. In the next step I applied a filter in Mextures (Radience/Waterfront) and at last the PFX 5x filter in Picfx.”

Quiet

Marco Lamberto
Quiet‘ by Marco Lamberto – “I took this picture at midday in Massaciuccoli (Tuscany, Italy). The light was so bright that I wasn’t able to properly see the display of my iPhone. The water was calm, no wind at all and the heat was very strong; I quickly took few shots from different angles and moved over. I’ve applied my usual workflow by pre-processing with Adobe PS Express with a bit of denoise, clarity and minor color adjustments. The final touch was made with VSCO Cam and the Q4 preset.”

She and the bird

Remi
She and the bird‘ by Remi – “This photo was taken on a rainy day. We arrived in a campervan at the North Atlantic and took a walk around the area. The tide was out and my wife were walking on the seabed. I saw few birds were flying over the heads so just waited until the birds were as much as possible diagonally and took the shot. Post processing was done in Snapseed application. I enhanced the foreground colors a bit and cropped so that the girl stayed on the thirds and the sky left as it was. It was a very miserable day so the sky didn’t have much detail.”
