The past 12 months have been a fantastic journey. Along the way I have had the privilege of meeting many talented mobile photographers and have been inspired by so many more.
As we approach the festive season I thought it would be interesting to invite 24 mobile photographers who have inspired and supported me in one way or another and ask them to offer an insight into their photography, to reflect on their year gone by or plans for the coming year ahead.
Each day until Christmas Eve we will be featuring one photographer in a sort of online advent calendar so to speak.
Today’s featured photographer is Jennifer Bracewell.
Jennifer Bracewell is a mobile photographer from San Francisco who has a unique style of photography which often crosses the boundaries of what you might deem to be art rather than photography. She is known for her self portraits as well as her arty styled images.
The Photo I am Most Proud of is…
I took this photo on a very special family vacation this past summer.
I took my family to the Russian River here in Northern California. It was the last summer before my son would be going away to college and my daughter starting kindergarten, two big milestones and life-changing events for me. I was very aware of making the most of my time with my children, big and small.
One day it was raining lightly and we went for a drive. My son spotted a trailhead and we jumped out of the car, ran down a little hill and found this beautiful river beach, totally deserted save two paddle boats. I snapped a few shots. This was one of them. I processed it with Tangent App. This photo ended up being featured in the Apple App Store as one of the images for Tangent. That was super exciting and quite an honor. I called this one “Dark Side of the River”, an homage to the cover of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.
This year has been quite exciting for me, both personally and with my photography. I’m so grateful to have this creative outlet. I love to go out and shoot daily, edit and share. Instant gratification is something unique to mobile photography.
There’s so much inspiration to be found in this community and I’m honored to be a part of it. I feel like I’ve found my niche. I hope to continue to make images and also to encourage promote upcoming artists. Thank you so much for this opportunity, Andy.
