First up, Nan Deng, grand prize winner in this year’s Mobile Photography Awards, talks about his winning portfolio of images which demonstrate a high level of technical ability as well as an expert understanding of composition. Looking at his photos, I often found myself saying the famous words, “I can’t believe these were taken with a smartphone.”

Next, Scott A Woodward, a professional travel photographer whose work has been featured in publications such as National Geographic, Vogue and GQ, offers some essential advice and insight into his approach to composition, use of lighting, and how we can all take better travel and portrait photos.

In our beginner’s guide section, Rob Dunsford looks at reflection photography, a topic that will instantly give the photos you take so much more creative flair and interest. Nicki Fitz-Gerald continues her look at the iColorama app in part two of her three-part series.
