With autumn firmly upon us (at least in the northern hemisphere) the theme of this weeks Mobiography showcase just had to be autumn. This time of year offers many photo opportunities as the landscape around us changes in colour and becomes bare as the trees shed their leaves. This weeks showcase illustrates this change in our surroundings perfectly, from Remi’s colourful full frame shot of pumpkins to Cary Larrabee’s wonderful autumnal sunrise.
Featured photographers this week include spider.69, Remi, Waldemar B?a?ej Nowak, Steven Gordon, la_ma_rie, Elena Penkova, Tomaso Belloni, BrIdGeT, Cary Larrabee and vadim demjianov.

Yes… It’s definitely Autumn…
‘Yes… It’s definitely Autumn…‘ by spider.69 – “I love Autumn, I love the colours and the smells, the low sun and it’s long shadows .. I love seeing paths covered in leaves. I also love photos taken from a low PoV so when I saw this scene early morning I just had to get down amongst the leaves and take a photo! Scotland doesn’t do summer very well but We certainly know when its over!
I never did much editing. The lighting was perfect as were the colours. I edited slightly by cropping and pushing the blacks up a little to enhance the shadows a little. I did this with the iOS editing only.”
Untitled
‘Untitled‘ by Remi – “My wife and I went for a walk in Dublin’s National Botanic Gardens. Just at the entrance there were a lot of different coloured pumpkins. I couldn’t imagine that they could be in such colours. In terms of post processing it’s was done in Snapseed. I increased tonal contrast and details with structure.”
Alone
‘Alone‘ by Steven Gordon – “I think of Fall as having three seasons. Early fall begins with the first turning of color, a hint of the brilliant colors and contrasts that come at Fall’s peak. When the leaves fall and scatter away, Fall’s final season is seen in the silhouettes of trees and the colors of the dormant grasses below.
I took this photo while walking on a local greenway that passed by an empty horse pasture. I processed the image first in TangledFX to accentuate the spikiness of the branches and the color of sky and pasture. Then, in Snapseed, I cropped the image around the subject. Next, I used HDR Scape with a filter strength of 35, which helped lighten the mass of branches near the center of the tree and further toned the colors throughout the image. Finally, I applied Grunge style 409 (Brightness 2, Contrast 44, Texture Strength 23, and Saturation 47).
When randomly cycling through the Grunge styles, I immediately liked style 409. I let the Grunge predominate because it suggested the look of an old keepsake, a souvenir of seasons gone by.”
Autumn
‘Autumn‘ by Elena Penkova – “You may know such days when an autumn can be interrupted by an Indian summer. That was one of those sunny and warm days. The trees were just past the peak of their autumn colors, burning like torches. Not a motion was perceptible in the air, only a sweet freshness, and everything looked extraordinarily clear and bright.
For raw, natural beauty nothing beats the bicycle ride through one of the most picturesque places – the Muromets island, which is located on the Dnipro river, in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine. While riding I was so enraptured with the place and psychedelic autumn colors that I took several photos using my iPhone 5s native back camera.
I always use my iPad for viewing and editing all the shots that I take with my iPhone. As for this image, the processing was rather simple. Using Snapseed HDR and Glamour Glow filters I applied some minor adjustments as well as one of the vintage effects available in Pixelmator for iPad. ”
Seasons
‘Seasons‘ by Tomaso Belloni – “I was with my 4year old son and showed him this large pool in the street, pointing out that there was a new ‘lake.’ He wanted me to take a photo so I crouched and immediately saw the Autumn composition and the dreamlike effect, which matched my mood at that moment. I shot on an iPhone 6 with the default camera and edited with Snapseed, finally passing through Oggl (Akira lens, Daydream film).”
Morning Rise
‘Morning Rise‘ by Cary Larrabee – “I Decided on a whim to get out early to catch some morning shots with the sun rising in a new area I hadn’t been to before. I drove to this new area looking for a spot to catch the sunrise and decided on a hilly rise with trees in silhouette to the rising sun. It wasn’t until walking down into a meadow that I found the spot in this image with the sun’s rays illuminating the foreground as well as the tree in the background, which was exactly the kind of light I was looking for. The lens flare was by accident and I originally wasn’t going to use the image, but decided to after all. There were lone birds flying over the trees before the sun came up, but not after, so I added a bird to the image during final processing.
First step in the processing was to run the image through Dynamic Light, creating two new images using different effects for blending later. One of those new images was then manipulated in Tangled FX to create two more images, one in color, the other in black and white, both using the brush stroke setting. All four of these images were then blended in Image Blender with different blend modes and percentages to get a final painterly look. That image was then imported into Mextures where a saved formula was used to enhance and add some minor texturing. I liked the overall clean look and was conservative with the amount of texture to add. Final tweaks were added in Rays to enhance the sun rays and Distressed FX to add the single bird in flight.”
