Watching the earth birth

Watching the earth birth‘ by Janet Hartmann – “While house sitting on the Big Island, Hawaii, my husband Steve and I went on a hike to see the Kamokuna lava flow from the Kalapana (east) side. After hiking about an hour on a gravel road through a moonscape lava field, we scrambled over sharp rolls and ledges of the lava delta to the viewing area. The sign featured in the photo offers warnings that should NOT be ignored. The dude with the hat in front of me sat there calmly eating his sandwich, providing some nice diagonals with his hat and set of his shoulders. I took several shots of him with my iPhone 6+ and chose this one, and added an Instagram filter (Juno) to sharpen it up. Pretty simple. In my book, simple is best.”

Coming up… the road to Die Hel. South Africa

Coming up… the road to Die Hel. South Africa‘ by Ann Hecht – “This was taken on a road trip to remote parts of South Africa. You need an off road vehicle for this road. We were ahead of our friends and stopped to look down. Some very sharp ‘S’ bends!

I took the picture with my iPhone 6. I used snapseed to tease some detail out of the shadows. Snapseed
is great and my go to app for editing.”

Fun in the leaves

Fun in the leaves‘ by Lou Ann Marks – “We chose a nice fall day to play in the leaves and my grandson Jase loved being covered in leaves. He has a great smile which shines through in this photo.”

Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times

Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times‘ by Marlyn Castillo – “I took this with an iPhone 7, I used the iOS effect ViVid warm.

If you want to try a day hike away from Manila’s heat, Mt. Ulap will suit you well. Situated in Itogon, Benguet, this mountain is known for its scenic view of the Cordilleras while trekking the grassland and pine tree ridges.

This Photo means a lot to me, I came here  to conquer my Fear in Heights. Thank You, Lord, that Your love is stronger than our greatest difficulties even our worst doubts or fears!

Mountain makes me realise that life must go on no matter how hard it is. Whenever I see a Mountain I see How God great Is, Whenever I feel that I am unsuccessful My Faith regained that Everything will be in his perfect Time.”

Charlie at‪ Brimham Rocks, North Yorkshire.

Charlie at‪ Brimham Rocks, North Yorkshire‘ by Elaine Taylor – “I took this shot with my iPhone 7 plus and edited it in Snapseed and TouchRetouch.

That’s my son, Charlie, at Brimham Rocks in Yorkshire UK – an amazing collection of weird and wonderful rock formations, sculpted over centuries by ice, wind and rain. It’s the perfect playground for children like my mine who are always looking for mini adventures.

I watched Charlie and his friends in action, anticipating a shot. I could see that Charlie was going to jump, so I got into position, set the focus of my phone’s camera and kept my finger on the shutter button, waiting for the right moment.

Perhaps I should mention that the perspective and cropping of this shot suggests a far scarier scene than it was in reality.”
